Trauma and I set off in the spring of 2007 to under take the then little known Te Araroa Trail. In the 850 miles we covered on the South Island, we only saw one sign acknowledging the existence of the trail. We spent may days bushing through wet tussocks dreary conditions and found solace in the many DOC operated huts throughout the country.
